Education not only encourages the students to excel academically - it is also about the skills and attributes that would allow them to thrive in life and be beneficial both for the society and the country at large. We are proud that Department of Economics has students with a diversity of thoughts, skills, innovative ideas, knowledge and much more. The Department acts as a facilitator by providing a broad range of opportunities, the students thereby enrich their learning and hone their skills.
A number of activities conducted by the department enable students to unleash their potential. Department has to its credit the National Level Programmes and Seminars viz. Synergy, Annual Symposia and the publication of department Magazine Arthika and department Journal Illuminatus. The department also organises an exchange program with St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and St. Joseph’s College, Darjeeling on an annual basis. This provides an opportunity for our students to get a glimps of the academic and cultural orientation of the host institution and city. Apart from these programs, the department conducts Group Discussions, Special Lectures, Quiz, short programs for the overall development of the students. It’s alumni is also doing very well and have got through institutions of repute like TISS, TERI, LSE, MSE, GIPE, SAU, XIC, and many other institutions for pursuing their masters in the subject on a regular basis. The department is striving hard to produce and mould such talent which will contribute for their country in what ever capacity they can.
